Piazza Santo Stefano
Godetevi la vista sulla Basilica di Santo Stefano, chiamata dai bolognesi “Sette chiese”, una delle più importanti tappe dei pellegrini diretti verso Roma, Gerusalemme o verso Santiago de Compostela. L’antico complesso di chiese è sorto fin dal IV – V secolo su un tempio dedicato ad Iside. La Basilica è visitabile ad ora gratuitamente: durante il percorso trovate la Chiesa del Crocifisso, la Cripta (solo attraverso le vetrate), la Basilica del Santo Sepolcro, la Chiesa di Vitale e Agricola, il “cortile di Pilato”, la Chiesa della Trinità, il Chiostro medievale, il museo e la Chiesa detta “della Benda”. All’interno è conservato il più antico presepe a tutto tondo ligneo del XIII secolo. Sulla piazza potete vedere anche Palazzo Isolani e il cinquecentesco Palazzo Bolognini Amorini Salina.

The ancient complex of churches arose from the 4th-5th century on a temple dedicated to Isis. The Basilica is currently free to visit: during the tour you will find the Church of the Crucifix, the Crypt (only through the stained glass windows), the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre, the Church of Vitale and Agricola, the “Pilate’s Courtyard”, the Church of the Trinity, the medieval cloister, the museum and the church called “della Benda”. Inside is preserved the oldest wooden round nativity scene of the 13th century. In the square you can also see Palazzo Isolani and the 16th-century Palazzo Bolognini Amorini Salina.
